Progress Makers make up an extremely small part of the population (I would say less than 10% of people). They are financially secure, achieve great heights in their careers and have very pleasant personalities. Some of these people are aware of the universal laws and the fact that they create their reality, some of them aren’t.
I would say most of the progress makers don’t have any knowledge of their ability to manifest, but they simply feel it’s the right way to live and to go about their goals. The person that comes to my mind to illustrate this example is John Reese. You may have never heard of him, but he is an excellent marketer who was the first person to make $1 mln online in a day. He is the person in a blue shirt in the picture below.
He didn’t have a clue about the law of attraction or any of that stuff, yet he was doing all the right things instinctively. When he was working in a video store he would bring the car magazine with him and would look and highlight the Porsche ads he was planning on buying. Once his manager told him not to have such hopes because it’s likely he would never drive such car, but John refused to buy into the manager’s belief system. The result — he became one of the most successful people in the marketing world and now can afford whatever cars he likes.
By the way, another distinction to recognise if you’re in this category… If you absorb every single thing you get your hands on about how to succeed and how to achieve your goals, it’s more than likely that you belong to this category:) So if that’s the case with you, you will love this video with John Reese and Tony Robbins talking about how John Reese got where he is today:
They are optimistic people
Progress makers are very optimistic people and they are able to motivate themselves even when nothing in the outside world gives any indication that they are doing the right thing. They become enthusiastic about what they want to achieve and take action not because of the evidence in the outside world, but because of the faith that they have in themselves. They keep going even when the whole world seems to be against them and there is no proof whatsoever that would indicate that they are going to succeed.
They don’t react to circumstances
Voluntary strugglers seem to get upset when something doesn’t go their way. Progress makers, on the other hand, seem to have the same positive state of mind no matter what the circumstances are. They simply refuse to react to bad stuff that happen to them because either they instinctively feel that it’s the wrong thing to do or they know that it’s the wrong thing to do.
They are extremely persistent
The major mistake that devoted dreamers and voluntary strugglers make is that when they decide to achieve something and they experience some kind of a failure, they quit. That’s not the case with progress makers, however. Progress makers keep going no matter how many failures and disappointments they experience. It seems that nothing in the world will stop them because of their single-mindedness. They are driven by such a great power that it’s amazing to watch them.
The person that comes to my mind as an example of a persistent person is Henry Ford. If you’ve read the “Think and Grow Rich” book, you may remember the story about the persistence exercised by Henry Ford. He wanted to build an engine with eight cylinders, which was considered impossible at that time. All of his engineers told him that it’s impossible, but Ford still urged them to go ahead. After a year they finally built an engine that was considered impossible to make. That’s the power of persistence.
They have selective focus
Progress makers choose to focus on things that are positive and which inspire them. They choose to be with people who are similar to them and avoid being with those who are lazy, negative or have no purpose in life. Preferences as such keep their vibration high which in turn attracts positive events in their lives.
They take constant action
That’s one of the biggest differences between progress makers and devoted dreamers. Progress makers have the habit of constantly moving forward. They cannot help but take action because it’s either in their nature or they conditioned themselves this way. They do not come up with excuses of why this or that won’t work, they try and fail and move forward. They are not scared to fail and they do fail. But what makes them different from the other two types is that afer every failure they get up with the same enthusiasm as before and keep moving. And eventually this habit gets them where they want to go.
Voluntary strugglers don’t understand them
What I’ve noticed is that voluntary strugglers try to act like parents to progress makers. They try to show them “the real world” where struggle and unrewarded hard work prevails. They tell them to be content with what they already have and not to expect to get more because it’s unlikely it will ever happen. Voluntary strugglers honestly think that they are right and that they have to show the right way to live for those that seem to have a different mindset.
Usually progress makers have such momentum going on that they cannot stop no matter how much others object. So voluntary strugglers have no impact on them. However, for those who only try to become progress makers and have little or no momentum going it may be very dangerous to get any kind of advice from voluntary strugglers.
They make their dreams a reality
It goes without saying that only this type of people achieve significant things in life. They are the ones living the dream and enjoying their life. They are the ones that get their “lucky break” so to speak. When progress makers succeed, voluntary strugglers look at their success and conclude that they were simply lucky or that they were smarter than others or they come up with any other excuse that seems logical to them.
They are leaders and creators
Progress makers are extremely creative because they trust themselves and have little or no limiting beliefs that would block the creative force from expressing itself through them. Therefore whatever they do seems unique and beautiful. They express who they really are through their action backed with faith and enthusiasm.
They are leaders because they have unbendable trust in themselves. Such self-confidence attracts followers and others start seeking guidance from them. So they become people whose advice is sought after and respected. There are, of course, sceptics (voluntary strugglers) who try to bring them down. But no matter what you do in life, there will be some sceptics that will try to discourage you.
They are guided by their sixth sense
Progress makers gradually perfect their sixth sense and it becomes their main guide. So instead of listening to other people, they pay attention to how they feel about the situation.
You’ve probably been in the situation where you do something even though you feel it’s not going to benefit you or it’s going to have negative consequences. Then it turns out that you were right and you don’t understand why you still took such action. Well progress makers stop whatever they do if it doesn’t feel right. That means they have learnt from the previous mistakes of going ahead against their gut feeling and because of that they don’t get stuck in life.
So progress makers trust their sixth sense more than their logic. If they fail many times, for example, the logic may say to them that it’s stupid to keep trying because they keep failing. But their gut feeling says to keep going and they do. And so they eventually succeed as a result.
Hold themselves responsible for everything
Progress makers never blame the external world. If you blame the external world for who you are or what you have, you will never have any power to change anything because you give your power away to the external circumstances. So it seems to you that the external world has power over your instead of the other way round. Progress makers don’t make this mistake.
No matter what happens to them, they know that they’ve caused it because they are the ones making decisions in their lifes. They know that it’s stupid to blame the external circumstances because they are the effect of the actions they took and decisions they made. So if something goes wrong, instead of wasting their precious energy on complaining about how unfair the world is, they take action to change it.
Because they hold themselves responsible for everything that happens to them, you will never hear them complain. And because they don’t involve themselves in self-pity, they don’t contaminate their thoughts with negativity which is responsible for the failure of many.
They look for what problems teach them
No matter what problems they experience in life, they never focus on how bad they are. Instead they look for the lessons the problems teach them. They learn the lesson and then move on without repeating the same mistakes again. So right here there is a huge difference between progress makers and other people. Failures benefit progress makers whilst others are crushed by them.
Looking back at my life I can see how many failures I’ve gone through. I always wanted to have my own business and I started many ventures as a result, each one of them leading to failure. But instead of getting more and more disappointed by so many mistakes I make, I learnt the lessons each of them had for me. The more I failed, the more knowledge I gained about how I can succeed. So that lead me to self-employment which was my biggest dream for as long as I can remember.
The destiny of progress makers
You can probably already tell that the destiny of progress makers will be the best one out of all the categories. Progress makers enjoy wealth, health and have great relationships all their lives. But not all progress makers live successful lives. Some of them lose balance and do extremely well in several areas of their lives but don’t have the time to improve others. So they suffer from disharmony which causes them to experience problems and misfortunes. But that usually happens to progress makers who are not aware of their own ability to create.
You’ve probably heard of people who accumulate large amounts of money but remain lonely. Or you may know people who achieve fame but become depressed. These are the examples of progress makers who lost balance because they paid too much attention to some areas of their lives and lost sight of the others.
The progress makers that are aware of their ability to manifest have the most fulfilling lives. They know how to restore the balance if they lose it and they know how to change their circumstances. This makes them the masters of their lives and they live happy and interesting lives.
As you can see, this category is the best one to find yourself in. If you don’t have the qualities listed in this post, that’s okay – you can always acquire them by gradually changing your habits and conditioning your mind. The time invested in improving yourself is the time well-spent because there’s nothing more important in life than becoming more than who you currently are.

I was looking for information about John Reese, so I came to your website. Very good article, thank you.
Your articles are so helpful. I was a natural progress maker that began listening to the many voluntary strugglers in my life. They convinced me I was not “down to earth” and often made me feel ashamed of who I was and who I was trying to be. I eventually, after some hard times, realized this and now I am a progress maker again although an imbalanced one. This article has helped me to discover my imbalance and now I know what to focus on and how to direct my thinking. Simona, you are wonderful.
Thank you, Nancy, for your insightful comment!
